Le Linguistic Nerves, Part Deux (REMASTERED)

5 comments:

  1. In my native tongue (English), I have zero problem talking to cashiers (supermarket or anywhere). In Quebec, it was the second response that always tripped me up. "Bonjour"
    "Bonjour"
"(my carefully crafted phrase-request while standing in line)"
"(delighted smile from the cashier and a torrent of French)"
"I really don't speak French well enough..."

    1. Hah! I'm putting that on my comic to-do list. Brilliant

    2. Hahaha it was exactly my experience in Montreal!
I saw the price of a bottle of water, pulled out exact change, and said "De l'eau"
The cashier took the coins and answered a small sentence. I froze in confusion because I didn't understand a single syllable, then she repeated in English: "Just take it from the fridge."

  2. Also wow this has been redrawn! I remember how crude the lines originally were, it looks like an even bigger improvement on most remasters.

    1. Yeah most of them I redraw, but this one is the oldest one I've done yet. Funnily enough I had to redraw the final panel to make it look MORE like the old one because the new style didn't quite have the same energy to it. That's why his head is pointier in the last panel of this ^_^
