Honorifics Aside

Are thou as glad as me that we don't have honorifics in English anymore?? Verily!

  1. A brilliant strategy for tackling those nasty honourifics!

  2. I've heard that the French language has something similar, but it's only practiced in France. Apparently in Quebec, using the formal "you" can be regarded as snooty/uppity/pretentious.

    1. That makes sense. Quebeckers in my experience find pretty much everything the French do to be snooty/uppity/pretentious...

  3. This is why Sweden dumped the formal you during the du-reformen in the 1960s. On the other hand, now you got some people having been taught that Ni is polite, and some people who think it's rude to use anything other than du for a singular person. lol
