  2. I take it you still live in Germany? When I hear about excessive bureaucracy, I tend to think Germany, India, and Singapore.

    1. It's a thing everywhere. One of my friends waited 4 or 5 months for a piece of paper that was supposed to take 2 weeks max.

    2. This is inspired by friends and family over recent weeks in Slovenia, Thailand and France. So I guess it's everywhere!

  4. I don't remember Singapore being that bad (probably it depends where you come from) ... at least there you can deal with things electronically, unlike here in France, if you want to open a bank account or buy a house, you have to sign tens of pages on paper documents.

This gives me horrible flashbacks to dealing with such a horrible immigration office, that my family actually decided to leave the country 6 months earlier than planned to avoid having to go back. Every time we walked past the building, my son would say, "Mom, you were really angry there. Why did you cry there?"
