Bad Signs

16 comments:

  1. Sorry to tell you: you got the UK one wrong.

It's called the "V sign" and it is only offensive if your knuckles are towards the person you are gesturing at.

If your palm is towards them, it means "two" (or, archaically, V for Victory, as popularised by Churchill in WW2).

  2. I think it's pretty humorous on the flip side. I can see an Iranian growling and flashing angry "thumbs up"...with the North American (not just USA) smiling, shrugging, and nodding. "Good job to you, too, buddy!" The Brazilian at the table agrees with the Iranian and throws some vehement "OK" signs. The North American grins at how everyone is being so complimentary and friendly.

    3. They don't currently do ads on Tinyview actually. The money they make is from subscriptions. I'd love to avoid any ads, even for the free version! But I'm not the boss :)

  5. What I want to know is, are there any cultures where sticking out your middle finger *isn't* considered offensive?

    1. The culture of bespectacled people, perhaps? (*Pushes up glasses... with index finger*) (¬‿¬)

    2. Or is the middle finger now consider to be a universal gesture rather?😉😜
