I have probably told this before, but once we were making a table reservation at a wine bar in Tokyo, the guy there really did not speak much English, so he asked which other languages we speak. So we started listing Finnish, Swedish, German, ... and he was like "Ah German!" and we managed to make the reservation with him in German. Later when having dinner there another staff member translated their whole menu from Japanese to English for us. Lovely service!
