Just Married!

malachi rempen just married

For this week's comic I'm cheating a bit because, well ... I got married yesterday! I proposed over a year ago, and we finally sealed the deal yesterday evening in Venice, her home town.

As a wedding gift, my dad and a friend of mine conspired for the past few months to give us what they called our "first children", and I think you'll find them pretty great (click to enlarge):

Aren't they amazing?! 3D-printed figurines based on the Itchy Feet guy and another surly character from this comic, I believe. As a kid I used to collect action figures, so this was like a gift from my childhood. He's even got the little backpack on! We used them as the figures on the wedding cake, and everyone was quite amused.

Awesome action figures. How did they do that?!
Also, I just stumbled on this blog and LOVE it! I'm a polyglot and photographer and traveler and everything you do is hilarious and just hits the spot for my humors appetite.
    Thanks!

  9. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!!

And I soooo want that action figure now. If you ever have plans to mass produce (or, well, limited release) it... or a stuffed toy... I'd totally grab one.

    1. I actually think the Itchy Feet guy would make an awesome stuffed toy, don't you? All puffy with dangly arms and legs...would be great!

    2. I second Ren's comment. I travel around quite a lot, and I can relate to so much of what goes into Itchy Feet. I would totally buy one of these action figures for my desk.

    3. Well all right then! I think 2 is a bit less than mass-producing levels, but it's a step in the right direction.

  13. So since you have traveled so much... where is the Honeymoon going to be? And will there be a comic about it?

    1. We're doing a multi-part honeymoon! Part One and Two were in France and Tuscany, respectively. Part Three will be in New Mexico (where I'm from), part Four will be in Bordeaux, and Part Five, probably, in Nepal. As for parts Six through Five Thousand - who knows??

  14. Make it 3! And congratulations!!

  15. Err, expected that comment to appear under the mass-producing-the-tiny-figures exchange... Looks a bit mysterious out of context. ("Hey, I got married!" "Make that 3!")

  18. Looks like no other Italian commented this before, as no one spotted the spelling mistake on the cake, which should read "W Gli Sposi", not "Li".
Anyway, I guess it's a bit too lat, so I will just stick to my belated congrats ;)

    1. *late* not lat :)

    2. Funny huh? We noticed that at the wedding but I think everyone tried to keep it quiet...we didn't want to offend the cake-maker, who was also present!
