  2. That's not the point of this strip. Finns do love their language and also appreciate when a foreigner tries to speak it! The stereotype is that we don't want to talk to each other, but when a foreigner comes to talk to us we are more than ready to communicate and be helpful. Within us Finns many regard talking from our compatriots as interference or intruding our privacy, whereas different rules apply to foreigners. (I am a Finn living in France :)

    2. Haha, while perhaps not a cultural norm in the United States, I have a similar standpoint. It's so much more interesting meeting people who are different.
