  2. Even worse is that the Dead Sea may be only a bit away from being an even deader sea, like the Aral lake, because Israel is taking so much water out in the summer it can happen that no water at all reaches the Dead Sea.
Just have a look at the delta https://goo.gl/maps/wQl8F
    or at 31.471006, 35.570577
to see how much the sea level has dropped.

    1. Yeah Jordan as well - and a lot of that is for farmland, so it makes sense they'd use the Jordan River for that. Sad to see the Dead Sea die, though. From what I hear, if nothing is done, it'll be completely gone in 50 years.

But while I was there, I did hear about a plan where they were thinking of piping water in from the Red Sea, the Red Dead Sea project or something like that. So there's a chance it'll be saved.

    2. The Red Sea or the Mediterranean Sea. As the Dead Sea is lower than both, this would gain energy and maintain the water level of the Dead Sea. But it has already been in discussion when I visited Israel in the late 1980s, and still not realized.

  3. Haha, great cartoon! My main impression of the Dead Sea was that it was SO HOT! The sun blazed down, the ground fried, the sea was like uncomfortably-warm bathwater, the shower water was warm - there was no relief! Still managed to have a good time, though.

  4. Whichever you use (bathing suit or kneepads), put goggles on for heaven's sake!
