  1. my british boyfriend (who had eaten the stuff before) thought that peanut butter actually had butter in it. he couldn't believe I would call it a healthy food option (without too much added sugar, of course).

    2. Isn't normal butter a healthy food option too?

  2. Well it's not that dissimilar to nutella minus chocolate, or rather hazelnut butter.
Disclaimer: I've never had hazelnut butter without chocolate, and I'm sure there's some difference.

Also, I confess I eat peanut butter off a knife sometimes.

  3. I grew up watching american shows and imagined peanut butter in all kinds of ways. I finally tried some when I was 22 or so, and it was not at all as I imagined it. I thought it would be sweet and buttery...

    2. "Peanut cheese" sounds horrifying. Nutella and peanut butter, however, sounds wonderful...

    3. Use that combination as a topping on vanilla ice cream. Heavenly! Very fattening, but heavenly.

    4. It's called peanut cheese, because the word "butter" in the Netherlands is a protected mark - only to be used for real butter. For this reason, peanut butter could not be translated into pindaboter.

This is also the reason why artificial butter has to be labeled margarine here (although everyone calls it butter...).

  5. Like rosevaan I thought peanut butter would be sweet and creamy substance. I tasted it only recently and found out that it tastes exactly like peanut and nothing else. Only you can spread it on a toast.
