Historical Perspective, Part II

Scroll this-a-way ==>

================================================================

Even though the first week of January is the birthday of Itchy Feet, on February 3rd, 2011, I drew the first Le Spleen en France comic, which of course became Itchy Feet. And since today is also February 3rd, this calls for a celebration! I can have as many birthdays as I want!

Above you can see a series of my little unnamed protagonists, one per month of comic operation (there was a hiatus between July 2011 and January 2012, so be quiet about that), featuring the most amusing expression from that month, backdropped by wherever I was living or traveling at the time. Also you can see how I got better (or just "less lazy") at drawing as I went along. I still feel like each time I draw the guy, he's slightly different. Would be very difficult to animate.

But who knows?

Historical Perspective

history was dirty

Just think what wondrous eminence future civilizations will bestow upon Las Vegas...

Also, happy 1-year birthday to this comic! I set out to do one every week for a year, and though both hell and high water came my way, I did it! So thanks to you for dropping by, and here's to the next year!

So Many Couches

every moroccan house has many salons

I might build a house in Morocco full of saloons, complete with swinging double doors, gambling, and prostitutes. That'd go over real well.

Common Tongue

it's easier to learn french in morocco than in france

Sometimes it's best to meet halfway. (Village sketch in the top panel by Iain Robinson.)

Ancient Secret

the secret to staying cool in a djellaba

And the men are all still wearing black leather biker jackets. They must have camel humps somewhere to conserve moisture.

Inshallah

inshallah is a powerful phrase

It's a useful phrase. A useful, infuriating phrase.
